Ranbir Kapoor Feels The Emotional Bond With Kashmir

Monday, March 14, 2011 0 comments

We did report that Imtiaz Ali went all gaga about the beauty of Kashmir while he was shooting his next movie "Rockstar" in the beautiful valley. Now the movie's main lead - Ranbir Kapoor opened up about how sentimental and emotional he is about Kashmir too.

He recalled that Kashmir is one place where his dad worked a lot and some of Rishi Kapoor's best movies were filmed in Kashmir. Now that Ranbir came to Kashmir, he just couldn't miss this Kashmiri connect. He met people who had worked with Rishi Kapoor in the good old days and he just got all too emotional while he met them and saw how sweet these people were.

Ranbir himself looked like a typical Kashmir boy next door in the traditional Kashmiri attire. He had some of the special Kashmiri food also.

As it is Kashmir and the Kapoor family go a long way if we recall Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor all worked here. It seems that Ranbir is only taking the traditions forward. It is good that these people have respect and love for old memories and places.

Abhishek's Triple A Honor

Tuesday, March 8, 2011 0 comments

Abhishek Bachchan is known for his humble remarks and gratitude over the years. Although, the brilliant actor has not received too many awards nor has he given lots of box office hits but he is still quite a natural actor.

Recently he tweeted that he is so happy that he is one of the very few actors from his generation to have worked with the amazing trio of Amar Akbar Anthony. He considers it to be an honor to have worked with super stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna - the three lead actors of the 1977 super hit film. Abhishek feels humbled that in just over a decade he got the chance to work with these three fine actors of the Hindi cinema.

This is what Abhishak tweeted:

"Just did my 1st shot with Vinod uncle for 'Players'. I can now proudly say that I've worked with AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY!! awesomeness!"

"Don't know many actors of my generation that have been lucky enough to say that."

Abhishek is now 35 years old. He has already worked with his father Amitabh Bachchan in many movies like Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Paa. He worked with Rishi Kapoor in Delhi 6. And now he is working with Vinod Khanna in Players - the Hindi remake of The Italian Job.

Kapoors Being Recognized For Their Contribution After Decades

Thursday, January 27, 2011 0 comments

I always say that when we look at the Hindi cinema, the biggest contribution is made by the Kapoor family over the decades. From generations their family has contributed immensely to the cinema and theatre but the way things are going people tend to run after very glossy and materialistic things geared up by lobby-ism and influence giving titles such as first families and covering stories on baap, beta and bahus. The real stuff is actually forgotten.

It was in 1969 that Prithviraj Kapoor was awarded the Padma Bhushan award. In 1971, Raj Kapoor also received this award. Padma Bhushan award is India's third highest civilian award.

Now, after many decades the Indian government chose Shashi Kapoor as one of the recipients for this award. Rishi Kapoor is very happy on hearing this news but he also expressed his desire that he wished that his uncle Shammi Kapoor too could have been awarded similarly because his contribution to the entertainment industry is huge.

This is what Rishi Kapoor said:

"It would have given me even more of a pleasure to see both my uncles Shammi and Shashi Kapoor receiving the honour. Certainly Shammi Kapoor's contribution to Indian cinema cannot be overlooked,"

"Chalo khairiyat hai Kapoors ko government ne recognise kiya (It is good that the government has recognised the Kapoors). Believe it or not no Kapoor has won such a national or government-level award in the last few decades,"

"This is the first time since then that the government has recognised the presence of the Kapoors in the entertainment industry. What a feeling, all the senior Kapoors, my grandfather Prithiviraj, my father Raj and now Shashi Kapoor are Padma Bhushans!"

Shashi Kapoor is now back home and recovering slowly. His family will be there with him when the President will give him the award.
